An early bird in the app world
The Dairy Farmers of Canada had some marketing budget to spend but there was no time to shoot a spot, so we proposed they invest in building a mobile app. But they were unsure what value they could bring in the app world, so we go to work to pitch them our vision. Apps were new, we’re talking 2010 here, look at that phone.
Before there was Figma and XD, we created a prototyping tool called Realizer that we used to present our vision of the app.
We sketched out a paper-prototype, scanned in the hand-drawn screens and mapped the interactions using Realizer. A quick over-the-shoulder video later, we were able to remotely present our idea to our clients in a different province and got an immediate approval.
The app hit the New and Noteworthy sections at launch and rose to #1 App on iTunes in Canada within a week, where it stayed for almost a month.
Our clients didn’t even know what apps were when they agreed to make this happen and soon became the cock-of-the-walk in the world of recipe apps.
